Police Scene 4/9/17: Hate Crime, School Incident, Vehicle & Rain Barrel Thefts

The Crime Report of serious incidents includes more than one week’s information due to the Rockville City Police Department’s hiatus from releasing the information last week. The report emcompasses March 24 to April 9, 2017.

Another hate crime, this time at Richard Montgomery High School. Someone drew an anti-Semitic symbol on a concrete pillar on 03/27/17 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:40 p.m.

This racially based incident also occurred in the 2200 block of Veirs Mill Road. A suspect approached a man and asked if he was “Spanish”, and was then struck in the face on 03/31/17 at 11:33 a.m. The suspect then fled the scene. The suspect is described as: B/M, 5’10-6’0, thin build, dredlocks/twists, seen wearing black pants and a black sweatshirt.

Items were taken in various situations:

300 block of Hungerford Drive, someone removed a pair of fire boots from an employee locker between 03/24/16 and 03/24/17.

700 block of Hungerford Drive, while shopping at a store, someone took a woman’s wallet containing U.S. currency, credit/debit cards and driver’s license, from her purse on 03/25/17 between 6:25 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.

600 block of Monroe Street, someone removed a delivery package containing food items on 03/28/17 between 12:57 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Can happen to anyone! Unit block of Church Street, someone removed a wallet containing credit cards and driver’s license from an unsecured officer on 04/05/17 between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

An environmental thief! 100 block of Monument Street, someone took a rain barrel from a yard on 04/08/17 between 9:00 a.m. and 7:20 p.m.

200 block of Richard Montgomery Drive, someone removed a pair of pants, cell phone, wallet, and U.S. currency, that had been left unsecured in a locker room on 03/30/17 between 2:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m.

Business incidents:

700 block of Hungerford Drive, someone gained entry by breaking the glass front door at a business on 03/29/17 between 12:01 a.m. and 7:47 a.m. Once inside the suspect removed cigarettes and wine.

200 block of North Washington Street, someone removed U.S. currency and several checks that had been left in an unsecured office on 04/03/17 between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

2000 block of Veirs Mill Road, someone removed an unattended cell phone from a counter on 04/06/17 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:10 a.m. A review of the video surveillance system shows the suspects described as a white, Hispanic male with a medium build, short black hair, light skin tone, wearing tan boots, light blue jeans, and a blue jacket. Also a second white, Hispanic male with a medium build, light brown skin tone, wearing dark blue hat, light blue jeans, and burgundy/maroon shirt.

Residential burglary:

12900 block of Ardennes Avenue, someone gained entry possibly through an unsecured front door at a residence on 03/29/17 between 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Once inside the suspect removed jewelry.

Vehicle incidents:

Don’t leave keys in the car! 100 block of Watkins Pond Boulevard, someone entered an unlocked vehicle between 03/31/17-6:30 p.m. and 04/01/17-1:00 p.m. Once inside the vehicle, the suspect removed a spare key belonging to a second vehicle which was then stolen.

1500 block of Rockville Pike, someone removed a pair of designer sunglasses from a locked vehicle on 03/24/17 between 7:45 a.m. and 3:33 p.m.

800 block of Rockville Pike, while his vehicle was being serviced, an unknown subject removed U.S. currency from the glove box on 03/26/17 at 4:16 p.m.

2200 block of Stanley Avenue, someone removed an ignition interlock system, stereo face plate, and drill set from an unlocked vehicle between 03/26/17-5:30 p.m. and 03/27/17-6:30 a.m.

400 block of Elmcroft Boulevard, someone removed an Ipod from a locked vehicle between 03/31/17-5:30 p.m. and 04/01/17-8:00 a.m.

400 block of Elmcroft Boulevard, someone removed a GPS, coat, and cell phone charger from a locked vehicle between 01/04/17-9:00 a.m. and 04/02/17-6:00 p.m.

200 block of Congressional Lane, someone removed a catalytic converter from a vehicle between 04/03/17-2:00 p.m. and 04/05/17-8:00 a.m.

800 block of Rockville Pike, someone removed a wallet containing U.S. currency, and credit/debit cards from a locked vehicle on 04/05/17 between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

800 block of Rockville Pike, someone removed a cell phone, a cell phone case, credit/debit cards, and driver’s license from a vehicle on 04/07/17 between 2:33 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

ARRESTS

On 03/20/17 between 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m., a male, age 29, was arrested for malicious destruction of property, trespassing, and rogue and vagabond, following an incident that occurred in the 300 block of Croydon Avenue.

On 03/23/17 between 3:05 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., during the service of an arrest warrant, a female, age 26, was also charged with second degree assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and failure to obey a lawful order, following an incident that occurred in the 200 block of North Stonestreet Avenue.

On 03/25/17 between 6:35 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., a male, age 48, was arrested for possession of CDS-crack cocaine and obstructing and hindering a police investigation, following an incident near the intersection of North Grandin Avenue and Coleman Park Lane.

On 03/25/17 at 9:15 p.m., two males, both age 19, were arrested for strong arm robbery, and second degree assault, following an incident that occurred in the 2000 block of Veirs Mill Road. In addition to the above listed charges, one of the defendants was also charged with making a false statement to a police officer.

03/26/17 at 4:42 p.m., a female, age 47, was arrested for theft, and obstructing and hindering a police investigation, following an incident that occurred in the 600 block of Hungerford Drive.

On 03/29/17 between 10:47 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., a male, age 40, was arrested for second degree assault, following an incident that occurred in the 700 block of Rockville Pike.

On 03/29/17 at 3:41 p.m., a male, age 44, was arrested for making a false statement to a police officer, following an incident that occurred in the 1500 block of East Jefferson Street..

On 04/01/17 at 9:06 p.m., a male, age 22, was arrested for second degree assault, disorderly intoxication, disorderly conduct, and failure to obey a lawful order, following an incident that occurred in the 14000 block of Cove Lane.

The last incident involves Richard Montgomery High School. On 04/03/17 a request was submitted to the Montgomery County Police Department’s Special Victims Investigation Division for a male, age 17, to be charged with possession of a dangerous weapon on school property (knife), disrupting school operations, and disorderly conduct, following an incident at the school.
