Police Scene 7/9/17: That Was No Friend

The Rockville Police Department released the following report for 6/30 to 7/9.

700 block of Monroe Street, the victim was in contact with someone whom he thought was a friend on 07/05/17 at 11:30 p.m. The suspect told the complainant to meet him outside. As the victim walked to the rear of the building, the suspect jumped out of the bushes. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the victim. The suspect searched the complainant and when no cash was found, the suspect then took his shoes. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black mask.

200 block of North Washington Street, the complainant reported that he had met an unknown person on 07/02/17 between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. about a room for rent. The complainant withdrew money from an ATM machine and gave it to the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 19 yo, 5’10”, thin build, black hair.

Residential incidents

1000 block of Oak Knoll Terrace, someone removed a box containing jewelry from a residence between 05/01/17-12:00 p.m. and 07/05/17-9:55 p.m.

300 block of Watkins Circle, someone removed a rocking chair with cushion from a front porch between 06/05/17-6:00 a.m. and 06/27/17-1:08 p.m.

800 block of Rollins Avenue, someone gained entry into a residence by breaking a front door window pane on 06/29/17 at 10:30 a.m. Once inside, the suspect was confronted by the resident. The suspect then left the residence and was last seen walking in the direction of Rockville Pike. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’0”, thin build, dark brown skin tone wearing: dark blue jeans, black hooded sweatshirt, black backpack with white stripes.

200 block of North Van Buren Street, someone gained entry into a residence by cutting a window screen to an open front window on 06/30/17 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Once inside the suspect removed a laptop.

1000 block of Brice Road, someone removed a cable box from a residence that was under renovation between 06/30/17-12:00 p.m. and 07/03/17-3:00 p.m.

Business/office incidents

7400 block of Westmore Road, someone removed a vehicle from a business on 06/25/17 between 5:15 a.m. and 5:20 a.m.

1100 block of Wootton Parkway, someone removed an unattended wallet containing U.S. currency, a driver’s license, and credit cards from a workstation on 06/30/17 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. The suspect is described as a black male, 6’1”, 200 pounds, medium build, bald/shaven head, medium brown skin tone wearing blue pants, gray shirt

800 block of King Farm Boulevard, an unknown subject removed U.S. currency from a business between 06/30/17-6:36 p.m. and 07/07/17-6:07 p.m.

1000 block of Rockville Pike, two unknown subjects entered the business on 07/03/17 between 1:30 p.m. and 1:39 p.m. The suspects removed an unknown amount of designer glasses and left the business without making payment. The suspects are described as: #1 – black male wearing: black/white shirt, #2 – black male.

1300 block of Rockville Pike, Complainant #1 reported that while he was serving a customer, the unknown suspect approached from behind and began striking him on 07/04/17 between 12:50 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. Complainant #2 attempted to push the suspect away from complainant #1, when the suspect began striking him. The suspect then ran out of the business and fled the location on a bicycle in an unknown direction. Locker and public place incidents

1100 block of Seven Locks Road, someone removed a wallet containing credit cards, and U.S. currency from a locked locker on 06/30/17 between 6:49 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Unit block of Maryland Avenue, someone removed her cell phone from a charging station locker on 07/08/17 between 2:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.

Vehicle Incidents

200 block of Nelson Street, the complainant reported that an unknown subject removed an IPad from an unlocked vehicle between 07/01/17-11:30 p.m. and 07/02/17-8:30 a.m.

600 block of Azalea Drive, the complainant reported that an unknown subject removed a riding helmet, a backpack, and grooming supplies from an unlocked vehicle between 07/01/17 and 07/02/17.

1700 block of Rockville Pike, the complainant reported that an unknown subject removed a dash camera, a radar detector, and a wallet containing U.S. currency from a vehicle on 07/04/17 between 1:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

500 block of Hungerford Drive, the complainants reported that an unknown subject had removed a watch, a lighter, a bottle of cologne, a backpack, and a speaker from an unlocked vehicle on 07/05/17 between 12:00 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.

ARRESTS

On 07/02/17, a male, age 40, was arrested for two counts of second degree burglary, two counts of malicious destruction of property, following two earlier incidents that occurred on 06/15/17 in the 1500 block of Rockville Pike and between 06/23-06/24/17 in the 700 block of First Street.

On 07/03/17 between 9:10 a.m. and 9:14 a.m., a male, age 33, was arrested for littering, following a complaint in the 100 block of Rockville Pike.

On 07/05/17 between 7:29 p.m. and 8:10 p.m., a male, age 78, was arrested for disorderly conduct, following a complaint in the 100 block of Maryland Avenue.

On 07/07/17 between 3:47 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., a male, age 22, was arrested for theft and disorderly conduct, following a complaint in the 1600 block of Rockville Pike.
