Rockville Shows Its Girl Power

The Montgomery County Commission for Women (MCCFW) announced the winners and honorable mentions for its first annual Girl Power Writing Contest, “What’s It Mean to Be a Woman in 2017?”

There were 106 entries received from students and adults from across the County. The Commission for Women Girl Power contest committee was comprised of selected commissioners. The committee judged winning entries for each of the four categories based on creativity and content and Rockville had two winners.

In the high school category, Meghana Kotraiah from Thomas Wooton received Honorable Mention. While at the elementary school level, Freya Reslar from College Gardens won first place.

Winners will receive a swag bag and free entrance to an upcoming MCCFW event. Their entries will also be posted on the Commission for Women website.
