“Building Bridges in a Diverse Society”, a dynamic, highly interactive diversity leadership workshop offered by the City’s Human Rights Commission, will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, in the Mayor and Council chambers at City Hall from 9 AM – 3 PM.
The free workshop is open to students attending high school in Rockville or at Montgomery College-Rockville. [You can read all about last year’s workshop on Rockville View at this link.]
The curriculum, based on the award-winning National Coalition Building Institute Prejudice Reduction Workshop and the teachings of other peace-building organizations, will provide students with tools to handle difficult situations with an understanding of diverse populations. It is designed to help students recognize prejudice and isolation, appreciate diversity and create an environment of inclusion in their schools.
Student leaders of diverse backgrounds are especially encouraged to attend. Student Service Learning credits will be offered and verification of hours attended is available for college students. Lunch will be provided.
