Coffee Republic touts itself as “A neighborhood coffee shop providing quality coffee, eats, service and atmosphere, with a socially conscious twist.” As soon as you walk in and receive a warm welcome, you know it to be true.
The clean, modern industrial space is exactly where you want to pull up a stool, chair, or comfy couch to take a break or gather with friends. The manager, Tamir, is passionate about coffee. The shop not only perfects the taste, but also prides itself on its latte art so the drinks look great too.
The four partners first entered the business by purchasing an established business, the Bean Good Coffee Co. in Arlington, which has been successful. With some of the owners living in Maryland, they started to eye the vacant Mayorga storefront for a second shop. Eventually, the Arlington place will be renamed “Coffee Republic” to match the King Farm location.
In addition to all the traditional types of coffee, the shop will specialize in international teas from such places as India and Turkey. Customers individually brew their own pots of tea as strong as desired.
The shop also intends to offer cold brew coffee. The process typically involves ground beans being soaked in room temperature or cold water for a long period of time. In the meantime, a bottled version’s available (when they can keep this popular item in stock).
To accompany the many choices of beverage, bagels, croissants, muffins, cakes, cookies, brownies, healthy bread, yogurt, and apple fritters fill out the menu.
Notice to those living in King Farm: something’s definitely “brewing in your neighborhood.”
Coffee Republic (Pleasant Dr. #100 in Rockville) will celebrate the shop’s grand opening on Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 11 AM till 4 PM with music by DJ Nore Quest.
